Sunward’s 16-Month Breakthrough in Shenzhen-Huizhou Project
📍 Shenzhen, China
Recently, two large-diameter intelligent earth-pressure TBM dual-mode shield machines developed by Guangzhou Sunward successfully completed their tunneling tasks. This marks the double-line breakthrough of the interval from Bainikeng Station to Baida No.1 Shaft, a milestone that reflects the efficient execution of the construction team and the reliability of Sunward’s technology.
01 Project Overview
The Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway is a vital component of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area network. Spanning 88.8 kilometers from Shenzhen Bao’an Airport to Huizhou Daya Bay, it is a key project for promoting transportation interconnection and metropolitan integration.
02 Technical Innovation & Support

The project utilized two dual-mode shield machines with a diameter of 9,130 mm to navigate 6,165.4 meters of complex terrain.
Overcoming Project Difficulties:
- Complex Risk Sources: The TBMs successfully passed under building groups, active railways (Pingyan, Hangzhou-Shenzhen), interchanges, and tunnels.
- Geological Mutations: Customized designs and intelligent monitoring systems ensured safety despite high tool wear rates and poor roof stability.
- Expert Service: Sunward’s after-sales team provided professional technical support, optimizing equipment performance in real-time.
